Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) provides a thorough understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the broader context of young people’s lives. It is designed to equip them with the knowledge and life skills they need to:
- Make informed decisions
- Enjoy their sexuality
- Mitigate vulnerabilities (including those specific to the urban environment)
- Protect their health, well-being and rights
CSE has been shown to improve adolescent sexual and reproductive health (SRH) knowledge, attitudes and behaviors when implemented well. It also provides an opportunity to critically reflect upon and discuss negative social norms and practice safe-sex communication and negotiation skills.
CSE is one of the gender-intentional interventions included in TCI’s AYSRH Toolkit. It is also used in TCI’s Philippines hub.
