Ghazunfer Abbas holds master’s degrees in business administration and sociology. He has also received leadership training, as a Bayer Scholar, from the Summer Institute in Data to Policy in Population, Family and Reproductive Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Ghazunfer has over 17 years of experience in program management, resource mobilization, designing, implementing, and monitoring public health programs, health systems strengthening, capacity building of public and private sectors, private sector marketing and sales, including experience in social marketing and social franchising of reproductive health products and services. Ghazunfer has extensive experience in working closely with several stakeholders including government partners, private entrepreneurs and development partners.

Ghazunfer is currently working as Chief of Party (COP) for The Challenge Initiative in Pakistan at Greenstar Social Marketing. As a COP, he has been responsible for establishing TCI in Pakistan, streamlining its operations and forming partnerships with the public sector of Sindh, Punjab, and Islamabad. Through his successful networking and collaboration, TCI was one of the few programs that were launched by the President of Pakistan.

He transitioned from a four-year assignment as Senior Program Manager of a DFID-supported project on “Delivering Accelerated Family Planning in Pakistan” being implemented in three provinces of Pakistan. In addition, he has established several large-scale programs as a program lead across Pakistan and managed all aspects including administration, budgeting, partner coordination, sub-grant management and monitoring, and reporting to donors. Prior to joining Greenstar Social Marketing, Ghazunfer was part of Marie Stopes Society Pakistan’s leadership team that conceived, developed and implemented the social franchise systems in the MSS.
