The Lagos State Government recognizes the significance of meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs of young people especially those often left behind and in non-formal educational settings. As a result, the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, following various consultations with young people, partners and stakeholders, developed a Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) curriculum and teaching manual – the first of its kind in Nigeria, to be used in vocational and technical schools in the State.

The curriculum and training manual provides a positive life-cycle approach to sexuality and highlights the cognitive, emotional, physical and social aspects of sexuality. It includes six modules and twenty-eight topics which were developed following the guidelines of the Sexuality Education Review and Assessment Tool, culture, and needs and emerging challenges of young people in non-formal educational settings in the State.
