The Challenge Initiative (TCI) has just premiered an animated video that provides local governments with guidance on implementing a high-impact intervention from Francophone West Africa (FWA) that promotes the universal referral to family planning counseling and services called Systematic Identification of Client Needs in Family Planning (Identification Systématique des Besoins du Client en Planification Familale or ISBC).

This “how-to” video with step-by-step guidance demonstrates how any health facility can leverage various service delivery entry points, such as vaccination or prenatal care, to address the unmet family planning needs of women, adolescent girls and youth to ensure they are adequately referred to appropriate services.

The ISBC intervention in TCI University has been updated to engage women, adolescent girls, couples and men more effectively while considering their  intention to use a family planning method using the ISBC Job Aid tool throughout the continuum of care. The tool allows health providers to better counsel and follow up with potential family planning clients.

In the animated video, viewers gain a more comprehensive understanding of what ISBC is, the importance of the intervention, and four key steps for implementing the Job Aid tool. The video is aimed at local governments looking to scale up family planning and adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health (AYSRH) services. It showcases the low cost and sustainability of this high-impact intervention across diverse contexts.
