Evans Tochukwu is a Youth Program Officer for Good Health for Women and Children, an indigenous NGO working in the family planning field in Abia State, Nigeria. He has been involved in creating awareness and generating demand for family planning there for over two years. Although he has been working in family planning, he did not feel that his skills were adequate enough to drive demand generation activities. When Evans heard about the Challenge Initiative (TCI) and TCI University (TCI-U), he decided to try the free online platform where he could learn more about his field of interest, and be awarded points and certificates.

After registering for TCI-U, Evans completed several evidence-based approaches and was awarded six certificates for passing assessments related to the approaches. TCI-U has greatly increased Evans’ knowledge of the various approaches and interventions designed to increase uptake of family planning and adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health (AYSRH).

“It has really increased my knowledge on youth sexual reproductive health and rights. I was able to go into the global toolkit on TCI University and learn some lessons. Apart from the knowledge I have gained from TCI University, I like their online certificates. These are far better than those of other online institutions,” he said.

Evans is now using the knowledge he gained from TCI-U to reach youth in Abia State. He has encouraged and supported his peers to register for TCI-U. Listen to Evans talk about his experience with TCI-U:
