Chief of Party, East Africa

Dr. Njeri Nyamu is a seasoned public health expert with over 15 years of experience in health systems strengthening, strategic leadership, and program management across East Africa. She has dedicated her career to advancing access to quality family planning, reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services.

As the Chief of Party for The Challenge Initiative (TCI)–East Africa at Jhpiego, Dr. Njeri leads efforts to accelerate government-led implementation of high-impact practices in family planning and adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health (AYSRH) across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Her expertise has been instrumental in scaling sustainable interventions that improve equity in reproductive health services.

Beyond her focus on reproductive health, Dr. Njeri has contributed to global health programs in HIV/TB, malaria, and immunization, driving impactful policy and programmatic solutions. A fervent gender champion, she continues to advocate for the reproductive rights of women and girls to ensure equitable healthcare access for all.

A passionate global health advocate, Dr. Njeri has served on the Global PPFP Steering Committee and co-chaired the AlignMNH Fellowship Program. As an alumna of the WomenLift Health East Africa Leadership Journey(Alumna 2022), she is deeply committed to mentoring and empowering women in healthcare leadership, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for future changemakers.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Njeri finds rejuvenation in the outdoors. A passionate hiker and adventurer, she draws inspiration and resilience from nature. Above all, she is a devoted mother of two.
