The Challenge Initiative (TCI) officially launched in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, on June 4, representing the city’s continued commitment to improving family planning and its desire to try the Initiative’s “business unusual” model of implementing high-impact interventions aimed at increasing access to modern methods.

The launch attracted a number of high-profile attendees, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, religious and traditional leaders, and other stakeholders. Also in attendance were the Director and Burkina Faso Country Coordinator for the Initiative in Francophone West Africa.

Speakers emphasized the need for greater investment in family planning not only to save the lives of women and children, but also to improve the social and economic wellbeing of all people in West Africa.
