High-Impact Practices
High-impact practices or "HIPs" are a collection of proven practices that reflect global expert consensus on what works in family planning programming.
This set of evidence-based family planning practices have been vetted by experts against specific criteria and documented in an easy-to-use format. The Gates Foundation is a HIP co-sponsor, along with USAID, UNFPA, IPPF, WHO, and FP2030.
A HIP is measurable and it should have demonstrable impact in achieving various results.

Enhancement HIPs
A HIP Enhancement is a tool or approach that complements two or more HIPs from the other three areas, enhancing their impact or extending their reach to specific audiences. Unlike standalone practices, enhancements have a focused purpose and impact, and thus, their evidence base and effectiveness are evaluated by different standards than those applied to HIPs.
